Requirements List We will be making at least 6 blocks in a representative number of techniques. You may choose to make a mini wall hanging in order to learn the techniques, make more of the associated blocks for a larger project, or start the Journey to make the whole quilt! FABRIC:
OTHER NEEDS: – Cotton threads to match colours and background – Hand sewing needles – tutor uses appliqué 11s – Rotary cutting equipment; 6” square and 6” x 12” rules are most useful – Freezer paper if you have it (tutor will bring some) – Paper and fabric scissors (small, sharp points) – Pins and a fine point pencil – Sewing machine – OPTIONAL. This is not necessary and the technique is probably better without. 1) Using 2 contrasting fabrics (background plus another) cut 8 squares, 3” size, 4 from each fabric. 2) Cut 2 squares,( 1 from background and 1 from a contrast) 6” size. 3) From each of 2 fabrics cut 3 strips, 3” x 10” – “Dear Jane” book by Brenda Papadakis, if you have it – Sense of humour, your lunch and a mug |
