What? |
See how fast and fun you can make this age-old technique that originated to use up the fabric strips you’d trim off and discard. See how easy it is to create quilts like: cob web, stringy stars and tulips, Japanese stars and lanterns and lots more! Strips of fabric can be a whole lot more exciting than log cabin and rail fence. Machine piecing and rotary cutting. Please bring with you:
Fabric: Bring a selection of colours you like working with. The more variation in pattern and scale the better. The amount you bring depends on the speed that you work at, but a carrier bag full will be enough to keep you busy. Jelly rolls work well to boost a stash of strips and strings. You can pre-cut some strings if you like, tutor recommends a selection between 1″ – 2 1/2″ wide. They don not have to be straight or long! We do not sew any particular quilt in this class but you may see quilts in the day that inspire you to make one like them. The day is about new ideas and how a patch in a block does not have to form one solid fabric. You will not leave short of ideas! |
